Documents can be uploaded to Futures workspaces to share it with other members.
Depending on the permissions set on the documents, it can be edited by all, by some or by none of the members of the workspace. For further permissions guidance, please see this article: Permissions on Futures and how to set them.
If you do have have permission to edit, please follow these steps below:
- Navigate to the document and at the top that select 'Open in Word/Excel/Powerpoint etc.,'. The option will depend on what the document is.
- From the drop down options, select 'Edit on the desktop' or 'Edit in the browser'. The desktop option opens in your desktop Microsoft application whereas the browser option open in the Microsoft online version.
- Desktop editing only allows for one person to edit the document at one time.
- Browser editing allows multiple members to open and edit a document at the same time. For guidance on editing in the browser, see: Collaboratively editing Microsoft documents on Futures.
- If you have selected 'Edit on the desktop'
- When prompted with 'Do you wish to continue?' select 'Yes'.
- Approve the browser popup asking you to open the Microsoft application
- The document will now open in protected view while it checks for viruses. When the 'Enable editing' button appears at the top, select it.
- Now you can edit the document. Save it and close the document on your desktop when you have made your changes.
- On Futures, refresh the page. The changes made will now appear on Futures in the preview view.
