Futures uses multi-factor authentication (MFA) to keep the platform secure. MFA is also referred to as two-step verification. MFA provides an added layer of protection by using your password and a security code generated by an authenticator app on your device to login to your account.
MFA is currently only turned on for users who are workspace managers. For more details on why this is important please see NHS England MFA Policy.
If you are able to sign in using our 'Login with @nhs.net (SSO)' option on our login page, it will take you through the NHSmail authentication process and this will bypass the Futures MFA process.
How to enable MFA on your Futures account
- Login using your email and password.
- Click 'Let's get started!'
- Choose your security questions and fill in the answers. These can be used to retrieve your recovery codes and get access to your account if you lose access to your authenticator app. When you are happy, click Save.
- Add a recovery email and select 'Next'. The recovery email will be sent recovery codes when you are not able to use your authenticator.
- Next, set up your authenticator app. Open your chosen app and scan the QR code. Alternatively, follow the on screen instructions to use a 16-digit code.
- Enter your 6 digit code from your authenticator app.
- On the next page, make a note of your recovery codes. These can be used to help you get access to your account in the event you cannot get access to your authenticator app.
- Click 'Continue' and your MFA will be enabled.
