All folders and items on Futures have permissions. Permission settings decide who can access, modify and create items within a folder.
Folders have three elements that permissions can be set for:
- View - Who can access and see the folder exists in the workspace.
- Modify - Who can edit the name, settings and delete the folder. We recommend that this is restricted to managers in most instances.
- Create Items - Determines who can add new items to the folder.
You can set your permissions either when you first create a folder or at any time after it is created.
- To access an existing folder's permission settings, navigate to the folder, then go to the 'Actions' menu at the bottom and select 'Modify folder properties & permissions'.
- Go down to 'Permissions' and select it to open it. If this is a new folder, you will also see a permissions section. Here you will see 'View', 'Modify' and 'Create Items'.
- Select who you want to have these permissions. This can either be 'Users', 'Members', 'Managers + teams' or 'Managers'.
- Select which 'Item Type'(s) can be created in the folder by those with 'Create Items' permissions. Managers can add any item type regardless of the settings.
- Tick 'Copy Permissions' if you want these same permissions settings for everything contained in the folder. Press 'Save' at the bottom when done.
